We are back from the our first trip away. It was the most successful disaster holiday I have been on. The destination was Beechworth Victoria. The whole time we were there it rained a steady drizzle. But we didn't let it ruin the occasion.
We had planned to ride on several of the many walking trails around Beechworth, but all we managed to do was to explore between the caravan park on the lake and the main township. On arrival we at the Lake Sambell Caravan Park we we given vouchers for a free coffee at the Beechworth Bakery. The bakery was nice and warm, so we sat there in the warm, sipping our coffee and watching it pour down outside. The Bakery smelt too good, so before we ate everything we decided to at least visit the gorge.
The idea had been to leave the Kombi at the caravan park and ride everywhere. This obviously didn't happen so we decide to cut the trip short a night and drive through the gorge before heading home. Our shoestring budget didn't allow us much fuel to roam about. There are some pictures below of us at the falls in the gorge.
We highly recommend the Commercial Hotel in Station Street. They have great beer and great meals. We spent the evening there sheltering from the cold and the rain. Warm open fires and an excellent games room. A buck for Pool and unlimited games of dual Sega Rally for only a dollar!

Mr Rock Face (he poked his tongue out just as I took the photo)

Oddie the Kombi.
I have called the Kombi "ODDIE" this is short for "Odysseus Van Kombi"
Odysseus is an ancient Greek character from Homer's Odyssey .
He was the guy who had the idea of using the Trojan horse to penetrate the city of Troy.
Also the pre-name "Van" mean "of"

We saw this rocket slide in Benalla. There used to be one where I grew up as a kid.
I thought they had all been removed because they are too dangerous.
Kids like me got their heads stuck between the bars at the top, DOH!

These colourful cows were grazing the nature strip in Murchison.
But it was so cold they seemed to be frozen stiff

Anyone for an adventure?
Travelling by myself could be a real bore, so there is an invitation to anyone who might want to join me for any leg of this odyssey. The Kombi has two separate bunks and the front seats can be converted into separate sleeping quarters. I have just brought a heater so it won't be to cold.
If anyone is interested, then you will probably want to know a bit more about me.
