Past trips      About Me

This time I visited part of Victoria's mineral springs area, Vaughan Springs to Daylesford via Mt Franklin.
It was a solo trip this time (It's a shame you were busy, but you can come next time) See the photos below

The plan was to camp at Mt Franklin on the first night, but I took a detour to Vaughan Springs On the way. It was so nice there that I decided to stay.
On the first day in Vaughan Springs I decided to follow the loop track to the furthest spring, (about a 45 minute walk according to the sign) I was talking my bike so I though it would be  a short ride.
I knew that the path wasn't the best for riding and that I might have to carry my bike over some obstacles, but that's real mountain biking!
After riding for about an hour I decided that I must have taken the wrong track. I had followed the wrong path markers. I was following the Great Dividing Trail which did not return to the camp site.
The next day I decided to try the loop track again, but this time in the opposite direction. and stoopid me followed the wrong markers again! and got lost again! But I did have fun and eventually found the Glenluce Spring at the end of the trail and with the help of a friendly ranger made it back to camp.

There was a really kool slide  at Vaughan Springs. It was so much fun, but I did wait till no-one else was around to have a go...LOL

Once I had finished being lost, I set out for Mt Franklin. I have been to Mt Franklin several times, but these have only been for picnics. For those who don't know, Mt Franklin is an extinct volcano. I had only explored the inside of the crater and driven to the top lookout (not that you can see the view past the trees)
This time I wanted to explore the outside of the mountain. There are heaps of old logging tracks to walk around the mountain.

Each night I made a small bonfire which was really great. But I soon learned that if you plan to do this often then some lip balm comes in real handy. the fire dries out you lips and this is not good when you have a cold too.

It is always fun trying to get yourself in photos when you are by yourself. My digital camera has a delayed exposure setting so I have a few seconds to get in the shot. The problem is finding somewhere to put the camera. I have a tripod but it is too much to carry when I go for a walk.

Anyone for an adventure?
Travelling by myself could be a real bore, so there is an invitation to anyone who might want to join me for any leg of this odyssey. The Kombi has two separate bunks and the front seats can be converted into separate sleeping quarters. I have just brought a heater so it won't be to cold.
If anyone is interested, then you will probably want to know a bit more about me.

I think they need to do some maintenance on the bridge at Hepburn Springs. It wasn't the easiest to walk over

The Blow Hole at Hepburn. Miners cut it to divert water.

When I see a tunnel like this I just can't help myself, so after reading all the warning signs I went through...
